“[Salazar’s] unconventional approach to classical music has helped to open new spaces for the genre.”
— Kyle Long, NUVO: Indy's Alternative Voice
Mexico is famous for its mariachis, but there is also a wealth of classical music by Mexican composers. Juventino Rosas, for example, wrote a waltz that became so internationally famous that for many years it was misattributed to Johann Strauss II! This free 50-minute presentation offers an introduction to Rosas and Mexican composer María Grever, shining a spotlight on their most famous works. An optional lunch, available for $15 from The Whisk, is free to seniors over 65.
