About the Show: What are you carrying that you should let go? This experimental music show combines traditional instruments with contemporary sounds, blending a mixture of pre-composed music by Indianapolis composer Rob Funkhouser with the spontaneity of Forward Motion's improvisations. Featuring flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, and percussion, this show creates space for introspection, guiding you through washes of sound and feeling. By the end you may find yourself releasing your stresses, coming away lighter, bolder, and ready for your own adventure.

About Forward Motion: Forward Motion has commissioned and premiered dozens of new chamber works from composers such as Rob Funkhouser, Caroline Kyung Ahn, Eliza Brown, Jorge Muñiz, Clockwork Janz, Jared Thompson, Gabrielle Ceberville and many others. Forward Motion’s core instrumentation consists of flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano and percussion; the group's activity is fluid and involves many innovative combinations of this core instrumentation. The core members regularly compose for the group bringing about a wide-range of creative expressions.
Forward Motion has partnered with many local non-profit organizations to build community around the creation of new and improvised music. Recent partnerships include Classical Music Indy, which has supported the premiere and recording of four new works by Indiana composers annually and Indy Convergence, which has supported innovative cross-disciplinary performances at White River State Park.
