A MUSICAL DEPICTION OF FREEDOM FOR CLARINET + FIXED MEDIA

Sky So Blue... is a musical depiction of freedom. Imagine that you are a kid again, running down a hill. The wind is blowing through your hair as you race to the bottom of the hill. When you reach the bottom you lie down on your back and look up to see the bluest sky that you have ever seen. For that moment, it’s just you and the sky – there is no such thing as responsibility. You don’t belong to anyone or owe anything to anyone, you are just free.

Sky So Blue… is an easy-going solo with fixed media that allows the novice to sing, and experts to soar. The wash of electronic sounds allows the performer to freely ornament the melody, and includes a short improvisation section.
